Biography - Higher Ground |

Peggy Quick, Madonna Imel, and Dee Ann Schnautz have been a part of the music trio, "Higher Ground" for well over a decade. Peggy and Madonna played for a country music band called, "Jackson Junction" for many years. Peggy's husband Bart also played in the band. Prior to the formation of the group, Dee Ann had had only met Madonna a few times because she sang at her wedding. Dee had known Peggy for many years. When Dee Ann was quite young, Peggy was her piano teacher! They have gone to church together for at least twenty years... Tragically, Bart died

suddenly of a viral infection of the throat. At Bart's funeral, Madonna and Dee Ann decided to get together with Peggy and sing gospel music full time in order to better use their talents for the Lord.
Through the years the trio has maintained a wonderful friendship and their desire to sing and play for the Lord only grows. Peggy has a master's degree in piano performance from SIU, Carbondale, Illinois. In addition, Peggy is the principal at Rome Grade School in Dix, Illinois. Madonna is the vice-president of a band in Paris, Illinois. Dee Ann is the new assisitant princpal at Casey Middle School in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
The group has a country gospel sound. Peggy plays the keyboard and sings back-up, Madonna plays the base and sings, and Dee just sings! Scott Imel is our sound man. Madonna and Scott Imel's son, Ryan, plays the drum! It sure beats the old drum machine we used and affectionately called "Alex" for years!
Their concerts are filled with a variety of new and old song selections played in their
own unique style. Please keep the group in your prayers as they try to make a difference through song! Higher Ground would enjoy coming to your church to sing and worship with you.
